Our First Official Eighty Club Event of 2020
If you've never been to Bermuda before, here's what you need to know: it's absolutely stunning. It's unlike any island I've been to and the scenery, the vibe, the people, and most importantly the golf - is world class.
For this year's Breaking Bermuda we'll be arriving on Friday afternoon and settling in to the Mid Ocean Club.
The rooms are some of the largest and most comfortable on the entire island, and are a stone's throw from the clubhouse, driving range, and golf course.
We'll meet for happy hour at the club for drinks before doing a formal dinner at the clubhouse around 7pm on Friday evening.
Saturday we'll have breakfast at Mid Ocean and embark on 36 holes at the C.B. Macdonald designed Mid Ocean Club golf course.
Not only are the views incredible, but there are some excellent renditions of template holes, including what is widely regarded as the best "Cape Hole" in the world.
And yes, it really is that good.
We'll head back to change, and then into town for a group dinner at a fantastic local restaurant.
Sunday morning we'll wake up to another fantastic breakfast (included), before heading across the island for 18 holes at the world famous Port Royal Golf Club. It has hosted multiple iterations of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf where the likes of Rory, Bubba, and Justin Rose among many others tested their mettle against each other.
You'll learn first hand how difficult it can be to play with views like this:
On Sunday evening we'll either do a casual dinner at the home of an Eighty Club member, or do dinner at Mid Ocean Club.
What's Included in Breaking Bermuda 2020
We've done everything we can to make this as much of a no-brainer for you as possible.
Included in your weekend is:
- 18 Holes of Golf at Port Royal Golf Club
- 36 Holes of Golf at Mid Ocean Club
- OPTIONAL: 18 Holes at Turtle Bay Par 3 Course on Friday or Monday)
- Unlimited use of range and practice facilities at Mid Ocean Club
- 3 nights double lodging in a private cottage at Mid Ocean Club
- 3 Breakfasts
- Formal dinner at Mid Ocean Club
The cost for this event is $1195 based on double occupancy. If you want your own room, the cost is $1595.
In Order to Move Forward With This Event...
In order to move forward with this event, we need the commitment of at least 4 members by January 31st, 2019.
Doing this ensures we're able to put on a fantastic event, have a Ryder Cup style competition and meet our obligations to our arrangement with the Club.
So if you're planning to join us, please let me know ASAP so we can get this on the books and finalize our plans!
If you pay and the event does not happen, we'll refund you the first week of February.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this event open to non-Eighty Club members?
If you're attending and you have one person you think would be a good fit for joining us, we're more than happy to help accomodate that. Just email sean@breakingeighty.com.
But because half the fun of these events is getting to know other members, we're limiting it to just one outside guest per person.
Will This Be a Competitive Event?
Yes, we hope to make this a competitive Ryder Cup Style event with our Bermuda based members vs. the International members. More details on that to come!
Can You Help Arrange Someone to Share a Room With?
We'll do everything we can to help arrange double occupancy requests for people looking to do so.
Are Spouses or Significant Others Welcome on This Trip?
Significant others are welcome to join you on the trip. Just be aware if they're non golfers, there won't be a ton of down time with our schedule, so make sure they're ok with that.
They're also welcome to join for dinners and social events, there will just be an additional fee for them.
Is the Payment Refundable?
Unfortunately your payment is not-refundable. In order to secure our rates, and ensure we have a solid turn out we're not accpeting refunds.
You are however able to sell your spot to another Eighty Club member, and we'll make it possible to do that in the forum.
What Forms of Payment Do You Accpet?
Ideally, we'd like payments to be sent via Venmo. This helps minimize transaction fees to keep the cost of the event as affordable as possible. If this isn't an option, email sean@breakingeighty.com and we can arrange Paypal or Credit Card.

This year is shaping up to be our best Bermuda event ever, so definitely get down on this soon, as we may have to close registration depending on interest.

"On the plane ride back I tried to count the golf trips I’ve been on and it was in excess of 132. Damn few of those were any more enjoyable than the two days in Bermuda with guys I had never met before. The hospitality was second to none.
I was just amazed at how gracious our hosts were and how much fun they were to play with. Extremely entertaining gentlemen. They represent everything that is great about the greatest game. I thought the accommodations superb and so was the food, especially the fish chowder which I ordered 3 times.
This was my first trip to Bermuda and I could kick myself for not having ventured there before. I can’t thank everyone enough."
