Fore Friday: Park Feels the Pressure, Webb Runs Bridgestone, and JFK Golfing
Each Friday, we scour the internet looking for the very best and most interesting in the golf news and stories circulating online that week. This way, you can always be up to date with the latest chatter when you hit the links on the weekend.
Here’s what’s happening this week in the world of golf.
Park Feeling the Pressure
Over at the Old Course at St. Andrews, LPGA player Inbee Park is on the cusp of doing something historic: becoming the first player to win 4 Majors in a calendar year, the coveted Grand Slam. Park faltered uncharacteristically on the 17th and 18th in the first round, but still put herself in good position.
Will Inbee grab this fourth Major? Can she do Super Slam by winning in France in September?
Webb Rules at Bridgestone
Webb Simpson finished the first round at 6 under during his first round at the WGC Bridgestone, which is being held this week. Simpson who came out of the gate last year by surprising many and winning the US Open, hasn’t performed up to expectations thus far this year. But, maybe all that is about to change.
Will Webb be able to hold off the pack and claim a victory at Firestone?
We know presidents love to golf, but it is cool to be able to go back in time and check out this color GIF of President John F. Kennedy knocking it around on the greens on Cape Cod. Though, being from New England, and judging from the color saturation in the shot, I’d classify the pants as Nantucket Red, since a proper pair will fade to a rosy color. 🙂
More importantly, what do you think of JFK’s form?
Greatest Game Ever?
The folks at Back9Network managed to stumble upon what might be the greatest computer game of our generation, forget World of Warcraft or Civilization, the Driving Range Picker Upper Simulator is truly where it’s at. A quick download and it’s quite easy to get lost for a good 30 minutes in this game, it’s Breaking Eighty Approved.
Could this beat out World Golf Tour or EA’s Tiger Woods as the best golf related game?
