It’s Monday morning and I just returned from a week at the Lexus Champions for Charity Golf tournament at Pebble Beach. And all I can say, is what a week it was. I’ve never attended any event, let alone a golf tournament that was as well executed across the board as this one was. From the hospitality, amenities, facilities, and attention to detail, and value it was truly something special. In this post, I’m going to share a bit about what Champions for Charity is really all about, and then go into detail about the event itself, and what you can expect if you choose…

Over the last two years I’ve been fortunate enough to play a lot of really good golf courses all over the world. I’ve taken thousands of photos, played thousands of holes, and started to have a much better understanding of what makes a good golf course. I’ve also been able to form opinions about which courses I enjoy the most. There’s a very distinct (and at times, quite large) difference between what I enjoy and what constitutes a good course by traditional standards. If you look at many of the “top 100” lists from major publications you’ll in many cases see a big slant…

Recently I received a set of new Wilson C300 irons to review. I was really excited to get my hands on them, mostly because it’s the first time in about a year and a half I had the chance to go back to playing game improvement irons. I’ve been gaming the JPX-900 irons for awhile, and generally I love them. But I’ll be honest, I’m not a consistent golfer. When I’m playing well, those things feel like a Ferrari. I can point the car exactly where I want, and it goes.  But when I’m not playing well, it can feel like driving a…

I have yet to find the perfect golf jacket. And frankly, I’m not necessarily sure that one exists. I love my Nike Aeroloft jacket for crisp, dry days. My Galvin Green Ace is fantastic for a downpour and those truly miserably wet rounds. But the Nike sacrifices being water repellent for providing free range of movement. My beefiest Galvin Green jacket sacrifices some mobility to ensure you stay dry. As much as I’d like to imagine a world where I can pack just one jacket on a golf trip, I’m not 100% sure that exists. But Galvin Green’s new Interface-1 hybrid jacket? Well, it…

It’s been a couple of years since I was last at Little Creek Casino to stay for the weekend and get some golf in, but I remembered it as a place I’d be more than happy to visit again. Well this past weekend, I had the chance to come back for another trip that at once was very similar, and completely different than the last. You see, the last go around I was on a trip with the guys. This go around? It’s just myself and my wife Tate. Being just over 2 hours from Portland (and less from Seattle),…

Redvanly is one of my favorite companies in the golf space. Why? Because they don’t fit into any one specific mold. They’re a boutique company that makes shirts that are more tailored and fit better than the big box brands. Their material and sweat wicking technology is very comfy. And their style is playful in a way that truly makes their shirts distinct. For those reasons, Redvanly makes some of my favorite polos on the market. Why I’m So Impressed with Redvanly in 2018 I first came across Redvanly about three years ago, and I’ve gotten to know their founder…

I thought it was a joke. Photoshopped. There was no way it could be. A few months back on an Instagram account I follow, I saw a photo of a shoe that simply couldn’t be possible. What was it? It was a Nike Flyknit Racer, but with a golf sole. Sure, Nike is a company known for it’s forward thinking, but would they really take one of their least supportive running shoes, and transfer it to a support where stability is absolutely paramount? Well, the answer as it turns out is yes. Introducing the Nike Flyknit Racer G. Is it as weird and polarizing…

My review of the Mizuno T7 wedges is long overdue. I’ve been gaming these for nearly a year, and to put it bluntly, I love them. But why do I like them so much? Let’s take a look and give a little insight into why nearly my entire bag is now Mizuno – something I never expected would happen. Why Choose Mizuno Wedges? As some of you might know, my wife is a designer for Nike, so for the last 10 years I’ve been a pretty big Nike guy (hellllllo, Flyknit Racer Gs, review coming soon) For about 6 years I was…

I first came across Chase 54 when I was down in Orlando for the PGA Show a little over a year ago. I was tagging along with my friend Ashley as she was walked through the entire 2017 woman’s line. While I certainly didn’t know much about the woman’s clothes, I always remembered the company and was intrigued by their take on golf fashion – with a special focus on mobility and fabric choice. Their name is also one that’s memorable. While initially I was thinking of “Chase” as in a guy’s name, it in fact is a reference to…

I couldn’t have been more excited to take off for my trip to….wait for it….OHIO. Yes, Ohio. While my midwest (is Ohio technically midwest?) travels have been relatively limited, Ohio is home to some of the best golf in the world – so to finally be able to plan a trip there was something I’d been waiting on for quite some time. First stop on the trip? Scioto Country Club. Scioto is probably most well known for being the childhood club of Jack Nicklaus, and is where he learned how to play golf. Throughout the round we were told stories…
