    I Ignored the G/FORE G.112 Golf Shoes — That Was a Mistake

Why these shoes surprised me (plus a few other standout picks from G/FORE).

If there’s a G/FORE golf shoe out there, chances are I’ve worn it.

    Gallivanter? Yup.

    MG4+? Definitely.

    MG4x2? Still in the rotation.

But for some reason, the G.112 kept slipping through the cracks.

And honestly? That was a mistake.

I’ve always liked how they look — sleek, a little sporty, casual in a good way. But I had this nagging suspicion they might not hold up as a serious golf shoe. Maybe too much fashion, not enough function.

Turns out, I had it completely backwards.

After putting seven rounds on these over the last month, I can say it plainly: the G.112s are legit. Not only did they surprise me right out of the box, but I like them more now than I did after my first round.

In this review, I’ll break down what’s great, what’s not, and why you might want to reconsider if (like me) you’ve overlooked these shoes.

Plus, I’ve been testing a few other G/FORE pieces lately, and I’ll throw in some quick takes on those at the end.

    Let’s get into it.

    The Style-Meets-Function G.112 Perforated

Let’s talk specifically about the G/FORE G.112 Perforated model because that’s the version I’ve been wearing.

At a glance, it’s easy to miss what makes these stand out. But look closer and you’ll notice the subtle perforation detailing across the upper. Those vents aren’t just for show. They’re a bit reason this shoe ended up surprising me in the best possible way.

One of the things I genuinely appreciate about G/FORE is how much variety they offer within each model. You’ll see different materials, bold vs. muted colorways, and the occasional style twist. Some of those louder designs aren’t really my thing.

But every now and then, they nail that perfect middle ground with a look that feels clean and understated but still has a little edge.

These shoes are incredibly breathable. Very comfortable even on hot days.

That’s exactly what’s going on here.

When I pulled these out of the box, it was immediate: yep, I’m into this. The leather is soft, the build feels premium, and that perforation gives you just enough breathability to make a real difference. Even walking very difficult golf courses in 90-degree weather, my feet stayed cool and comfortable the entire time.

As an example, 3 out of 4 rounds on a recent Ballyneal trip, these were on my feet.

    That’s no small thing.

I recently tested the TRUE Lux Maven — also a great shoe, no doubt. But breathability was one of my knocks. My feet got hot. So slipping into the G.112s felt legitimately refreshing.

For the longest time, I didn't take these golf shoes seriously. Man, am I glad I decided to finally check them out.

Subtle and Loud at the Same Time

From the inside angle, the G.112 keeps things understated. It’s got that clean, minimalist vibe, almost like a pair of Stan Smiths at first glance.

But then you turn the shoe and things get more interesting.

G/FORE throws in a few no-so-subtle design flourishes that give this model its own identity. The most noticeable? The way the outsole creeps up onto the front and back of the shoe with a kind of angular, spiked look. It’s distinctive. And, yeah, it’s not going to be for everyone.

That extra edge takes the G.112 from looking like just another simple white sneaker into something with a little more personality. Add in the pop of bright green on the sole and logo details, and it strikes a nice balance.

Personally, I find the color pop to be just right.

Any more green and it’d be too much, but as it stands, it pops just enough to stand out without being too loud.

As for comfort? These are among the most comfortable golf shoes, G/FORE or otherwise, that I’ve worn.

They’re also a step up from something like the MG4+ in terms of walkability. More flexible. Less structured. That makes them a better fit for long rounds on foot.

And of course, you get G/FORE’s signature nubbed insoles which basically give you a little foot massage with every step. I still love that feature, and it’s one of the things that keeps me coming back to their shoes.

Better On-Course Performance Than I Expected

One of my biggest questions going into this review was whether the G.112s would actually hold up over a long, demanding round — or in my case, two demanding rounds.

Because let’s be real: these don’t look like your typical high-performance golf shoe. They feel more like a sporty, casual sneaker. Lightweight, spikeless, low profile. That can sometimes mean sacrifices in support or traction. And I was fully expecting to feel that.

But after putting them through a brutal field test — 36 holes walking at Ballyneal, plus a couple extra loops on the Mulligan par-3 course — I walked away seriously impressed.

More than 14 miles on foot, and my feet still felt good at the end of the day. No aches. No fatigue. No hot spots. Just a solid, comfortable walk from start to finish.

And just as importantly, zero issues with support or traction. Even on uneven lies or more rugged terrain, the G.112s stayed locked in. G/FORE’s heel-to-toe turf traction actually delivers, and the low-drop design kept me feeling stable throughout.

Oh, and I’m happy to report that I broke 80 for the first time in two years while wearing these shoes. So I’ve got to say that they performed very well for me.

If You Like the Look, You’re Going to Like This Shoe

At this point, I’ve talked about so many G/FORE products that I don’t really have a lot of new things to say. So I’ll just keep it simple: If you like the way these look, go buy them.

    Seriously. These shoes are fantastic.

They look great. This specific colorway and perforated design that I tried hit that perfect mix of clean and cool, and they’ve totally won me over.

Also, if you’re a female golfer, or shopping for one, my wife has the G.112 as well. She’s not typically a fan of traditional golf shoes, but she really likes the look of these, especially the version with the kilty.

    GFORE G112 Womens
The women’s version of the G.112

She doesn’t usually walk full rounds, but she’ll do nine holes here and there, and she’s had no comfort issues at all. In fact, she mentioned she actually felt more stable in these than in her usual Nike Frees.

Take that for what it’s worth. Her frame of reference is fairly limited. But these are the shoes she’s planning to wear on the course for the foreseeable future.

Picking the Right G/FORE for You

Like I said before: with G/FORE, if you like the way a shoe looks, just go for it.

That’s kind of the deal with most of their lineup. They all feel comfortable, well-made, and stylish, but each model has its own vibe and slight performance tweaks.

If you want something that leans wider and has a little more fashion edge? Go with the G.18.

    G/FORE G/18 Golf Shoes
    The G.18s.

Prefer something more classic and traditional? The Gallivanter is the way to go.

    G/FORE Gallivanter G/LOCK
    The Gallivanter.

Need something with extra stability, more of a tour-level build? That’s what the MG4+ or MG4x2 Lock is for.

    The MG4x2.

Across the board, G/FORE sizing tends to be pretty consistent. I’d say they run true to size, though some models (like the G.112) are definitely on the narrow side. So if you’ve got a wider foot, again, the G.18 will likely be your better bet.

But really, it comes down to what speaks to you. Pick the one that fits your style, and chances are, you’re going to be pretty happy with the result.

More from G/FORE: The Performance Pique Polo

    G/FORE Pique Performance Polo

Alongside the G.112s, I also picked up a few new pieces of G/FORE apparel. And one in particular has quickly become a favorite: the Performance Pique Polo.

Right now, this is my go-to golf shirt.

Personally, I prefer a pique fabric when it comes to polos. It’s got that subtle texture that feels a little more like cotton, which I love. Unlike some performance polos that cling in all the wrong places or end up weirdly see-through, this one gets the fit just right.

For reference, I’m 6’ 1”, wearing a size large. The fit is spot on. Tailored, but with a little room. The collar holds its shape, the sleeve length is just right, the hem is perfect for wearing it tucked in or untucked.

That versatility is a big deal. I almost never wear golf polos off the course, but I’ve already worn this one to dinner, a backyard BBQ, and for three rounds of golf. It works everywhere.

At $100, it’s not the cheapest polo on the market. But it’s also far from the most expensive. And with the GFORE coupon code below, you can knock it down to $90, which feels like a steal considering how much use I’ve already gotten out of it.

G/FORE sent me this, and I’ve ordered two more, spending my own money, since then. I’m a big fan of this shirt.

    The Everyday Short

    G/FORE Everyday Short

I’ve covered this before in other places, but it’s worth repeating: the G/FORE Everyday Short is currently my favorite pair of golf shorts.

If you’re just looking for the best of the best, and price isn’t your main concern, go grab a pair.

Seriously. That’s all you need to know.

The Quarter Zip I’ve Been Waiting For

    G/FORE Brushedback Quarter Zip

Another G/FORE piece I’ve been reaching for a lot lately is the Brushed Back Quarter Zip. I’ve got to say, this thing might be the one I’ve been searching for.

I’ve cycled through a bunch of quarter zips over the years. Some in merino wool that ended up stained or worn out way too fast. Others that were just awkward fits. But this one, in a size large, checks every box.

It’s that perfect lightweight layer for those cooler morning rounds or blustery afternoons. On my recent trip to Ballyneal, I wore it for three out of four rounds, and the temps were all over the place. Hot one day, cold and windy the next. This handled it all.

It’s warm without being stuffy, moves during the swing, and fits like something I’ll wear even when I’m not playing. Super easy to throw on and just as easy to keep on.

Big fan. This one’s staying in the rotation.

    The G/FORE Pique Crewneck

    G/FORE Pique Crewneck

The last G/FORE piece I’ve been wearing lately is the Performance Pique Crewneck.

I’ve been on the hunt for a good crewneck for a while. Something a little more refined. Something I can wear out to dinner or toss on when I want to class things up a bit on the course.

    This one nails it.

It’s lightweight, comfortable, and has that polished, premium look without being flashy.

Price-wise, it’s in the $150 to $155 range. So not cheap, but also not crazy when you factor in the quality. And with the discount code below, you can knock a little off the top.

More importantly, it feels durable. Unlike some performance layers that can feel a little too delicate, this one holds up. I don’t baby it. I throw it in the washer and the dryer without worrying, and so far it’s held up great.

Final Thoughts on the G/FORE G.112 (and Everything Else)

The G.112s were the last G/FORE shoe I hadn’t tested. And now that I have, I’m wondering what took me so long.

They surprised me in all the right ways. The breathability, the comfort over long walks, the understated design with just enough flair.

If you’ve overlooked these thinking they were more about looks than performance, I get it. I did the same. But now I can confidently say they’re the real deal.

Pair that with some standout apparel pieces, and you’ve got a brand that continues to hit a pretty nice target of fashion and function. I think it’s a brand worth your attention.

    9.3 Great

The G.112s were the last G/FORE model I hadn't tested, and I'm glad I finally did. They're stylish without being over the top, surprisingly comfortable for long walks, and packed with just enough performance tech to make them more than just a fashion-forward pick. If you've been sleeping on these, don't.

    The Good
    1. Stylish and unique without trying too hard
    2. Very breathable
    3. Comfortable enough for 36-hole days
    4. G/FORE's nubbed insole still a brilliant design - like a mini foot massage
    The Bad
    1. Slightly narrow fit won't work every foot
    2. Spikeless sole won't satisfy everyone
