5 Best Golf Shorts for 2025 (For All Budgets)

The right shorts can make your summer. On and off the course. Find the right fit straight ahead.

    Let’s talk golf shorts.

They don’t get nearly enough attention, but if you’ve ever found a pair that fits just right, you know how big of a difference it can make.

The right shorts aren’t just comfortable, they’re confidence-inspiring. They make you feel ready to play your best.

And if you can find a pair that works just as well grabbing drinks after your round as it does actually playing? Even better.

That’s when you know you’ve found a winner. A go-to summer staple you’ll wear on repeat.

In this post, I’m breaking down my five favorite pairs of golf shorts for 2025. They run the gamut in terms of style, fit, and price point. Some are more technical, some are more laid-back, and all of them are shorts I’ve personally tested and would happily recommend.

If you’re on the hunt for your new favorite pair — the ones you’ll end up living in all season — this list is for you.

    1. TRUE Linkswear All Day Shorts — The Best for Versatility

If you’re looking for a pair of golf shorts that can do it all, from tee box to taproom to backyard barbecue, TRUE Linkswear’s All Day Shorts are a standout.

These have quickly become a go-to for me. With a not-too-long, not-too-short 8.75-inch inseam and a clean, neutral color palette (six options, all easy to pair), they strike that rare balance between athletic and refined. They don’t scream “golf,” but they don’t look out of place on the course either – and that’s exactly the point.

The fabric is breathable, stretchy, and comfortable enough. And while both back pockets look clean, only one has a zipper – which I love for securing a wallet or keys without adding bulk. It’s a small but smart detail that adds real-world functionality.

One subtle design touch: TRUE swaps the usual plastic button for a painted one, which looks sharp out of the box. Over time, however, I’ve noticed the paint does wear a bit. Not a dealbreaker, but worth noting.

Build quality is solid, though not quite as dialed as a few higher-end options on this list. At $95, they’re not inexpensive, but you can knock them down to $80.75 with our Breaking Eighty discount code, which makes them a much stronger value.

Bottom line: TRUE leans hard into their all-day ethos, and these shorts embody that. They’re made to be lived in.

We’re also a fan of their All Day Golf pants as well.

Looking for a pair of shorts that is just as good off the golf course as it is on? The All Day from TRUE is my pick for a casual pair of shorts for the adventurous golfer.

    A Quick Note on Price

Before we dive into the rest of this list, a quick heads-up.

Most of the shorts featured here fall on the premium side of the price spectrum. That’s intentional. I’ve reached a point in my life – and my golf gear journey – where I’ve embraced the “buy nice or buy twice” philosophy.

In other words, I’d rather invest a little more upfront in something that fits right, feels great, and lasts rather than chase sales on stuff I’ll end up replacing six months later because it never quite worked.

That said, I haven’t forgotten about budget-conscious golfers. If you’re after a more affordable option, keep reading. I’ve got a solid pick at the end of this post that I’ve seen priced as low as $9.

    2. G/FORE Everyday Shorts — My Current Favorite

    G/FORE Everyday Short

If I had to pick one pair of golf shorts to wear all summer long, it’d be these: the G/FORE Everyday Shorts.

From the second I put them on, they just felt… right.

The standout here is the waistband. It’s a super-soft, super-stretchy elastic that adapts to your body, whether you’re between sizes, fluctuating a little, or just prefer a waistband that has some flexibility. It hugs without squeezing, moves with you, and genuinely makes a difference in comfort.

They also come with an 8-inch inseam, which is my personal sweet spot. It gives you that tailored, slightly modern mid-thigh look that feels athletic but still put-together. Long enough to wear off the course, short enough to keep you cool, and just right if you like a bit of a sharper fit.

G/FORE also nails the small stuff. Inside the waistband, you’ll find a subtle textured logo detail. It’s not rubberized like some brands, but it’s got just enough grip to keep your shirt tucked in.

And then there’s the back pocket zipper. It adds just a perfect pop of color contrast. Just one little pop of pink in the back-pocket zipper, which makes it look stylish and subtle. Very G/FORE.

    G/FORE Everyday Short
Just a little pop of color. Comfortable and understated – that’s my style.

The fabric itself is top-tier – breathable, flexible, lightweight – everything you want whether you’re playing or going out for a summer dinner.

Now, let’s talk price. These shorts retail for $155. Yes, that’s up there. But use our coupon code and you’ll knock that down to under $140. Still a premium price point, but for a pair of shorts I’ll be living in this season, I think they’re absolutely worth it.

Simply put, if I’m playing in something a little dressier, or I want to feel especially dialed in, these are the first pair I grab. They’re my favorite golf shorts right now, no question.

For me, these are the shorts that do it all. Not inexpensive, but definitely high quality. Total comfort and functionality on the course and at dinner or wherever else. I love 'em.

    3. G/FORE Maverick Shorts — The Best Tailored Option

    G/FORE Maverick Short

G/FORE doesn’t just make one great pair of golf shorts. They’ve got range. And the Maverick Shorts prove it.

If the Everyday Shorts are built for stretch, comfort, and modern styling, the Mavericks lean more traditional in all the right ways.

These are slightly more structured, with a cleaner, more tailored silhouette that feels just as at home at a nice summer event as it does on the course. The waistband isn’t as elastic as the Everyday model, so you’re getting more of that classic performance khaki feel.

And while they don’t have as much stretch through the seat and thighs, that lack of give actually works in their favor when it comes to sharpness. They sit clean. They move decently. And they look really, really good.

You also get two inseam options with 8 or 10 inches, depending on how you like your shorts to fit. Personally, I typically stick with 8 inches for a slightly above-the-knee modern cut, but it’s great to see G/FORE offer a bit more flexibility here, especially if you prefer something with more coverage.

The earlier versions of the Maverick had some questionable styling for my taste. I didn’t really like the racing stripes on the pockets. But this current generation is refined, versatile, and incredibly wearable.

There’s a wide range of colors and sizing, making them one of G/FORE’s most popular offerings and a great alternative to more overtly athletic-looking shorts.

At $125 retail, they’re a bit more affordable than the Everyday Shorts, and with the Breaking Eighty coupon code, you can knock them down to $112.50.

If you’re looking for a premium golf short that leans dressy without being stiff, the Maverick is your move.

Traditional in all the right ways, the Maverick is a great option if you need something that leans dressy but is still comfortable and flexible enough for golf.

    4. Redvanly Hanover Pull-On Shorts — The King of Athleisure

If you’re someone who values comfort above all else, let me introduce you to the Redvanly Hanover Pull-On Shorts.

These are, hands down, my most-worn shorts of the past year. Maybe even the past two.

What makes them unique is their pull-on design. You get the look of a traditional short – button, zipper, belt loops – but the button doesn’t open. You just pull them on, and you’re good to go.

It sounds strange, but once you try them, you’ll get it. They’re just absurdly comfortable.

Redvanly is clearly aiming at the Lululemon-for-golf crowd. And, frankly, they’re doing a great job.

These shorts are built with a soft, four-way stretch fabric that breathes well and moves with you in every direction. Perfect for walking a round, lounging at home, or anything in between.

They also come in a huge range of colors, styles, and patterns, from subtle to classic to bold and loud. So whether you want to blend in or stand out, you’ll find something that works.

Sizing-wise, they offer two inseam options: 7.5 inches and 9 inches. I’ve tried both. The 7.5 is very modern, but it rides a little high and can feel a bit snug depending on your build. The 9 inch hits a more universal sweet spot as a comfortable length that still looks sharp without being overly short.

Now, one minor downside is that these tend to wrinkle more than other shorts I’ve tested. If you’re traveling and toss them into a suitcase without much care, they’ll come out looking a little rumpled.

The wrinkles usually fall out with wear, but it’s something to be aware of.

That said, the comfort and style more than make up for it. If you’re open to a pull-on short that doesn’t sacrifice performance or looks, the Hanover might just become your new everyday favorite.

Yes, these shorts are expensive at $110. And yes, they're "pull on" golf shorts. But once you wear them, you'll want to run right back out and buy another pair.

    5. Walter Hagen PureFlex Shorts — The Best Budget Option

    Walter Hagen Pure Flex Short
The fit and materials aren’t quite as nice as other shorts on this list. But if you can find the right price, these can still be a great option.

If you’re not looking to drop triple digits on a pair of golf shorts, or if you’re just hunting for a great deal, the Walter Hagen PureFlex Shorts are worth a serious look.

Water Hagen is one of the in-house apparel brands at Golf Galaxy and Dick’s Sporting Goods, which means two things: First, the prices are already competitive. And, second, there are almost always major sales happening. I’ve seen these shorts marked down from $75 all the way to $8.97. Yes, really.

These come in a regular straight-leg cut and a 9-inch inseam, so they’re a bit roomier and boxier than the more tailored styles from brands like G/FORE and Redvanly. That’s not a flaw, just a different aesthetic. If you prefer a classic golf short look over a more athletic, fitted vibe, these are those.

They’re also available in tons of colorways – over a dozen in the Pure Flex line alone – and Water Hagen has multiple short styles under the brand umbrella.

So if you’re after something a little more tailored or with a specific fabric or tech feature, chances are they’ve got a version that works for you.

Are these going to match the build quality of the higher-end brands on this list? No. The fabric’s not quite as soft. The detailing isn’t as refined. But they get the job done. And for a lot of golfers, that’s enough.

Walter Hagen shorts offer solid comfort, decent style, and serious value – especially when you factor in frequent BOGO 50% off sales and deep clearance pricing.

    Best Budget Golf Shorts

$70 retail (I've seen these shorts for as low as $9)

If you're looking for a solid shorts option that's less expensive but still functional, comfortable, and stylish enough to get the job done throughout your summer, this is my affordable pick.

    Final Thoughts

There are a ton of golf shorts out there. And no doubt, a lot of them are worth checking out.

But after testing dozens of pairs over the past few seasons, these are the ones I keep coming back to. They’re the ones I reach for when the weather’s nice and I’ve got a tee time. Or, honestly, even if I’m not going to go anywhere near the golf course that day.

Whether you’re prioritizing fit, stretch, price, or versatility, I hope this guide helps narrow your search and leads you to the pair that feels just right.

If you’ve got questions or want to know my opinions on any of the golf short finer points we didn’t cover here, let me know in the comments.

And if you’re looking for some cooler weather options, here’s the list of my favorite golf pants.
