Last year, the team behind Jones Golf Bags totally surprised me when they announced they were getting into apparel.
But not just any apparel. Along with Jones, they’d acquired the rights to Forrester’s Outerwear.
I’ll forgive you if you’ve never heard of it. But if you played high school golf through rainy Oregon autumns in the ’80s, you probably saw Forrester’s everywhere. Then, for a long time, you didn’t see it at all.
They did so much right with the initial relaunch in 2025. Former Nike designer Chris Bailey helped design a line that feels true to the old brand, while still being decidedly modern. The materials are great, the fit generally works, and there’s a cool factor that most golf outerwear simply doesn’t have. It’s premium stuff, but the prices feel reasonable for what you get.
Now in its sophomore season, Forrester’s is building on that start with updates to some familiar pieces and a few new ones. I’ve had the chance to wear some of the new gear over the last few weeks. Here are the five things I’m most excited about.
1. The Updated Rain Gear

I liked last year’s Forrester’s rain gear so much that I named it my favorite rain setup. The anorak looked unlike anything else I was seeing on the course, and it performed when I needed it to.
But I also understood the complaints. Not everyone wants an anorak; the fit was a little baggy for some people (I acutally liked this part of it), and it wasn’t the most breathable rain gear I’ve tested.
The new full-zip rain jacket feels like a response to all three points. The fit is still on the looser side, but it’s more tailored than last year’s. A full zipper makes it easier to get on and off, and they’ve kept enough of the Forrester’s styling that it doesn’t look like every other rain jacket.
The fabric seems a bit more breathable to me, too. I’m holding off on a full verdict until I can wear the jacket and pants through some properly wet rounds. But as an update to a set I already loved, this is promising.
The updated version of my favorite golf rain gear for 2026. Full zip, better fit, stylish, and less expensive than flagship rain gear from other brands. Highly recommended.

2. The Fleece Vest

The Fleece Vest is my favorite item in the new line. Honestly, it might be my favorite Forrester’s piece to date.
It’s warm, well-built, and has those little nods to vintage outdoor gear that make sense for the brand. Then you’ve got the color-blocked front pocket, which gives it a more modern look.
More importantly, it works when I’m actually golfing. That sounds like a low bar for a golf vest, but plenty of good-looking layers feel awkward once you start swinging. This one doesn’t. I’ve got a feeling it’s going to get a lot of wear from me this fall and winter.
This is the ultimate versatile vest. Warm enough for any outdoor activity. Functional enough to perform on the course. And a style that hits both vintage and modern style elements perfectly.

3. The Range Hoodie in New Colors

The Range Hoodie is back in new colors, and it’s still the hoodie I recommend most if your priority is actually golfing in it.
I’m 6’1″ and around 205 pounds, and the large fits me extremely well. It doesn’t bunch up during the swing, the drawstring holder keeps the strings out of the way, and I can push the sleeves up without stretching them out.
The waffle-knit interior is warm without feeling bulky. I’ve also been caught in the rain wearing it, and it handled damp weather much better than I’d expect from a hoodie. It’s no replacement for a rain jacket, obviously, but that bit of weather resistance makes it especially useful here in Portland.
This was one of the pieces that convinced me Forrester’s understood what golfers actually want to wear. The new colors give me another reason to keep recommending it.
Here’s more about some of my favorite golf hoodies on the market.
Not only is this one of the trendiest pieces of clothing in golf right now, but it's also one of the most functional as well. This represents a killer value for what you get.

4. The New Range Quarter Zip
If you like the Range Hoodie but can’t wear a hood at your club (or just don’t want one) the new Range Quarter Zip is for you.
It takes the material, fit, and general feel I like about the hoodie and puts them into a more traditional golf silhouette. It’s an easy piece to throw on for a round where the hoodie might feel a little too casual, without giving up what made the original so good.
Love the idea of performance and fit elements of the Range Hoodie, but want a more traditional golf-appropriate style? The Range Quarter Zip gives you the best of both worlds.

5. The Packable Rain Jacket
The Packable Rain Jacket serves a different purpose than the full Rainshedder setup. If I knew I was heading into a day of serious rain, I’d still reach for the more robust gear.
But for the vast majority of rounds where you might get wet? This is the kind of jacket I’d be happy to keep in my bag.
It’s also one of the best examples of the brand’s appeal right now. Yes, Forrester’s has its roots in rainy Pacific Northwest golf. But the current line has a style that works well beyond that. I could see this jacket looking just as natural walking around town as it does on the course.
Looking for a rain jacket that has just as much style as it does protection from the elements? This super lightweight, packable jacket is one of the jackets I'd consider first.

Bonus: The Forrester’s x Payntr RS1 Is Coming Back Soon
One more thing I’m watching: there’s a new colorway and another drop of the Forrester’s x Payntr RS1 on the way.
I loved the original. It reminded me of the old Nike Air Bandon in the best way: a serious shoe for golfers who keep playing when the weather gets ugly. The zippered shroud gives it a distinctive look, but it’s practical, too. Mine felt comfortable right out of the box, stayed dry through a dewy 18 holes, and had the traction and stability I wanted for winter golf.
I haven’t had the new colorway in hand yet, so I’ll share more once I do. But if you missed the first drop, this is one to keep an eye on.
Forrester’s had a lot to live up to after last year. Based on what I’ve worn so far, the new season looks like a smart step forward, and reaffirms its spot on my list of the best golf clothing brands out there. The Fleece Vest is the piece I’d grab first, and I’m especially eager to see how the updated rain gear does once Oregon gives me the right conditions to test it.
