Let’s be real. Nobody gets excited about golf pants.
Until you put on the wrong pair.
Too tight. Too baggy. Chafing halfway through your round. You know the drill. When you get it wrong, golf pants suddenly become very important.
And that’s the thing. Finding the right pair of golf pants is an unlock. The kind of thing you don’t think about until you do, and suddenly it changes everything.
Because the right pair isn’t just for the course. They’re versatile. They work for travel. For everyday wear. For those post-round beers.
And if you find the perfect pair of pants, there’s a good chance that you may have also found your perfect pair of shorts too – as the fit on a brand’s shorts if typically similar to their long pant counterpart.
Today I’m sharing my favorite pairs of golf pants. I understand that’s not as sexy as talking about a new driver or launch monitor or showing you a bucket-list golf course.
But the truth is that your golf pants have the chance to be one of your smartest golf purchases. If you get this right, everything else just becomes much better.
So, yeah, it might not be the most exciting topic. But I’d argue that it legitimately is one of the more important topics.
If you’re in the market for a new pair of golf pants or just curious about what’s out there for when you are, this one’s for you.
I’ve Tried a Lot of Golf Pants, But Not Everything (Obviously)
Before we dive in, let’s clear something up.
I’m one guy. That’s it.
There are dozens, maybe hundreds, of golf pants out there. I haven’t tried them all. Not even close. And I’m sure there are some great ones I’ve missed.
What you’ll find here are simply my favorites. The ones I’ve worn on actual rounds and that I keep going back to again and again.
So if you’ve got a pair you swear by, let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear about them and maybe even review them down the line.
But for now, these are my go-tos.
5. Bluffworks Ascender — Best Travel-Friendly Option
We’re kicking things off with a curveball. The Bluffworks Ascender isn’t a golf pant at all. It’s a travel pant.
But from 2016 through 2020, I wore these more than anything else in my closet.
Bluffworks is all about sharp, flexible-stretch travel clothes. Suits, blazers, pants, shirts — everything machine washable, comfortable, and good-looking. The Ascender checks all those boxes.
Back in 2017, my wife and I took a two-year sabbatical around the world. And for that whole trip, I had like three pairs of pants. And the Ascender was the one I wore most.
I hiked the Dolomites in them. Played Winged Foot in them. Wore them out to dinner all around the world, and even while volunteering at a panda reserve in rural China.
They’re that versatile.
Super comfortable and just the right amount of stretchiness. And they work just as well on the course as they do at the airport or a nice restaurant.
They’re not technically golf pants. But they perform like them.
Definitely worth a look.
These may not technically marketed as golf pants, but they're my favorite golf pants. I wear them all the time, and they work great off the course as well.
4. TRUE All-Day Chinos — Best Everyday Versatility
If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I’m a big fan of TRUE.
I love their ethos: All Day. Create shoes and clothes you can wear anywhere, on or off the course. It makes investing in quality easier. It’s also more sustainable, because you can own fewer things.
Their All Day Pant nails that philosophy.
They’re stretchy. Comfortable. Tailored. And they look nice at dinner and while you’re out playing. Honestly, they remind me a lot of the Bluffworks Ascender, just with more color options and a five-pocket design that feels closer to a chino.
I’ve found myself reaching for them when I travel. If I’ve got a quick flight, or a business dinner, or a tee time, or all three in a row, these pants totally work for pretty much all of my lifestyle requirements.
The one knock I would say is potentially the build quality. They wear great. But compared to some of the other pants on this list, they just don’t feel quite as durable. Don’t get me wrong. They don’t feel cheap. Just not quite as high-end from a material standpoint as the others.
If you decide to go with the TRUE All Day, use the coupon code below to save 15 percent. That makes them the most affordable pant on this list and I think a no-brainer add to most wardrobes.
The TRUE Linkswear All-Day Chinos are my new favorite golf pants. Not only are they great on the course, you can wear them hiking, to dinner, on a flight - or anywhere else for that matter. Use code "BE15" to save 15%!
3. Holderness & Bourne Baxter — Best for Class and Style
I’ve been a fan of Holderness & Bourne for a decade now.
When they launched, it was just polos. Now they’ve got a full range of golf apparel and accessories. Watching them grow has been awesome, and their latest pants, the Baxter, show how far they’ve come.
Holderness & Bourne has had a few different pant models over the years. Some more traditional. Some more performance-focused. The Baxter is interesting because it’s actually a lightweight, stretch corduroy material.
And I know that might strike you as weird in a golf pant, but just like in the Redvanly pants I’ll touch on below, I trust that these guys have figured out how to make it work in a way that’s comfortable and stylish. I never considered myself a courderoy guy, but these have become golf trip staples in my wardrobe. Their polos, outerwear, and accessories have always been top-notch. I trust the Baxter will hold up the same way.
So if you’re looking for a golf pant that breaks from the norm, the Baxter is worth a serious look.
I know that corduroy golf pants might strike some people as odd, but if Holderness & Bourne are the ones doing it, you can absolutely trust that the comfort and style will be totally on point. This is another in a decade-long run of winners from this brand.
2. Redvanly Bradley — Most Comfortable Fit
These are easily the most comfortable golf pants I own.
At first, I thought Redvanly’s approach was a little weird. These are pull-on trousers. They’ve got a fly like normal pants, but the button doesn’t actually do anything. You just stretch them out and pull them on.
Strange? Maybe at first. Until you realize how comfortable and simple it is.
They fit better than anything else I’ve tried. Think Lululemon pants, but softer, stretchier, and with more style options.
Redvanly has always done things their own way. You can spot their polos or sweaters from across the room. They’ve got that unique flair. And the Bradley pants carry that DNA.
Their pull-on style actually started with shorts, and I own like three pairs of them now, so I’m a big fan of that option as well.
Straight up, these are the most comfortable golf pants you'll ever own. They come in a bunch of colors, and quite simply, they rock.
1. G/FORE Tour 5-Pocket — Best All-Around Favorite
And finally, my go-to golf pants. The Tour 5-Pocket from G/FORE.
These are the perfect pants for me. They just work, every time.
It could be my body type. It could be the material. Whatever it is, these fit better than anything else I own. They’re perfectly tailored, and they’ve got just the right amount of stretch.
They look like golf pants and feel like golf pants, but they’re versatile enough to wear to dinner. I’ve even worn them to a wedding.
I don’t know what it is exactly, but these are the pants I feel most comfortable and confident in. They’re my number one when I want to be my best.
The Tour 5-Pocket pants are $165 a pair, so they’re not cheap. But you definitely get what you pay for. These feel like true high-end golf pants.
And we’ve got a G/FORE coupon code that will save you 10 percent. As I always say, if me getting a small commission bugs you, no worries. Don’t use that coupon code. But I’d still recommend these pants.
And if you want something slightly more formal, their 4 way stretch tech pant is also excellent.
They're comfortable, stylish, and versatile. I get excited every time I get to put these pants are. That's saying something considering, they're just golf pants...
Use Code "G4BREAKING8010" to save 10% on your first order.
