Over the last five years, I’ve tested more than 50 pairs of golf shoes.
Some have been solid performers.
Others… Well, let’s just say they didn’t exactly make me eager to walk 18.
But a handful have stood out for one very specific reason: pure, unbridled comfort. I’m talking about that “walking on air” feeling. The kind of pillow-like cushioning that makes you forget you’re even wearing golf shoes. That’s what we’re covering today.
Are these the best golf shoes on the market? Not necessarily. Comfort is just one piece of the puzzle, and I’ll share a few caveats with each pick. But if you’re after that plush, all-day walking experience, these are the pairs worth knowing about
My Current Favorite Golf Shoe: G/FORE G.112 Perforated
If you’ve never worn a pair of G/FORE golf shoes, the first thing you’ll notice isn’t the look, it’s the insole. Every pair comes with a nubbed footbed that feels like a gentle massage with every step. It’s a little odd at first, but by the time you’ve played a hole or two, you’ll have a hard time accepting any other shoe.
The G.112 combines that signature comfort with excellent build quality. G/FORE uses layered materials and textured details that make the shoe stand out from more traditional designs. The look is a modern twist on a classic golf silhouette, complete with a spiked sole and a clean pop of color on the side.
I’ve been wearing these more than any other shoe lately, and they’re definitely my personal favorite right now. They’re stable, stylish, and comfortable enough for long rounds.
And while they retail for $250, G/FORE frequently runs sales that can drop the price significantly, sometimes close to $100.
If you like the style, the G.112 is an easy shoe to recommend. In fact, most of G/FORE’s lineup could earn a spot on this list for comfort alone.
For the longest time, I didn't take these golf shoes seriously. Man, am I glad I decided to finally check them out.
The Most Comfortable Golf Shoe I’ve Ever Worn: Ecco Biom C4
Some shoes come and go. The Ecco Biom C4 has stayed at the top of my comfort rankings for several years. Nothing has dethroned it yet.
I’ve played more than 100 rounds in my pair of C4s, and while they’re definitely looking a bit dirty, they’re still going strong.
The Biom C4 is made with some of the softest leather you’ll find on a golf shoe. And the cushioning and suspension is totally unmatched. Ecco does it best. It’s honestly like walking on pillows on the golf course.
Style-wise, Ecco shoes tend to divide opinion, and the Biom C4 is no exception. But what it lacks in universal aesthetic appeal, it more than makes up for in comfort, stability, and durability. This is just an exceptionally well-made golf shoe.
The retail price is a bit steep at over $250, but deals pop up on sites like Amazon and Golf Galaxy if you keep an eye out.
For me, these remain the single most comfortable pair of golf shoes I’ve ever owned.
I keep coming back to these shoes - year after year - first and foremost for their comfort. But they're also exceptional when it comes to stability and traction. Just an all-around excellent product.
Most Comfortable Spiked Tour Shoe: FootJoy HyperFlex 2025
These shoes showed up unexpectedly, and my first real test was about as bold as it gets. I took them straight to Vietnam for their debut round. No break-in, no warm-up, just straight into play in an extreme environment.
The verdict? My favorite FootJoy shoes I’ve ever worn.
The high, supportive heel design hugs the back of the ankle without rubbing or blistering, and the comfort level was better than I’ve experienced with past FootJoy models. They’re waterproof without looking like bulky rain-ready shoes, and traction performance is excellent.
If you want a tour-caliber spiked shoe but also care about walk-all-day comfort, the HyperFlex 2025 is a standout.
This is the most well-rounded FootJoy shoe I've worn to date. The HyperFlex delivers excellent stability, all-weather performance, and great comfort with a surprisingly stylish look. And the price, relative to the competition, isn't bad either.
Most Comfortable “All Day” Shoe: TRUE Linkswear Knit Series
The TRUE Knit lineup — from the Knit 2 to the Knit 4 — is as versatile as golf shoes get. They’re not the most stable option on the market, and traction is more “good enough” than tour-grade, but for comfort and wear-anywhere convenience, they’re my go-to.
The All Day Knit 2 has been my standard vacation shoe for years. It’s lightweight, breathable, and comfortable enough to wear wherever I’m going to go, including on the golf course.
The Knit 4s refine the look and materials, but the core appeal hasn’t changed. These are golf shoes you can easily wear off the course. They’re perfect for casual or cart golf days, travel rounds, or just walking around town.
TRUE often runs deals, and with an extra coupon code, you can sometimes snag a pair for under $100, which makes them an easy “yes” if you want a shoe that works just as well on the course as at dinner afterward.
I've been a big fan of the TRUE's Knit Series. The Knit 2s have been my go-to, do-everything vacation shoe for years. So a new and improved Knit shoe definitely has a place in my lineup.
Best for People Who Don’t Really Want a Golf Shoe: All Birds Golf Dasher
If you’ve ever thought, “I wish my golf shoes felt exactly like my favorite everyday sneakers,” the Allbirds Golf Dasher is basically that wish granted.
They look almost identical to a standard pair of Allbirds, and when you’re walking the course in them, they feel more like casual walking shoes than structured golf footwear.
Comfort is off the charts. Soft, cushy, and comfortable for a full round. But there’s a trade-off: stability. These aren’t going to lock your foot in like a tour-level spiked shoe, though the outsole is sturdier than you might expect from the style.
I don’t personally reach for them often (the Allbirds look isn’t really my go-to for golf), but this list is about comfort, not style points. And in that category, they absolutely earn their spot.
If you're looking for an extremely comfortable pair of "All-Day" golf shoes, that are still stable enough to perform on the course? These may be just the shoes for you.
Best for Wide Feet: Payntr X 005F
Finding a truly comfortable wide golf shoe can be frustrating. A lot of the brands either skip wide sizing altogether or treat it like an afterthought.
Payntr’s the exception. The X 005F is roomy without feeling sloppy, with a soft tongue and a heel design that makes slipping them on and off easy.
If wide fit is non-negotiable for you, here’s a shoe you’ll want to consider.
If you've had trouble finding a great golf shoe for wide feet, look no further. This is the shoe you want. Use the code BREAKINGEIGHTY to save 10% on any Payntr shoes.
Best Blend of Stability and Comfort: Nike Infinity Tour Next% 2
Most “tour-level” shoes lean hard into stability and sacrifice some step-in softness to get there. But the Infinity Tour Next% 2 is different. You still get the locked-in, planted feel, but they’ve somehow built it on a platform that’s actually comfortable to walk in.
Plus, I think they look fantastic.
Another Ultra-Comfortable Spiked Option: G/FORE MG4+ 02 G/Lock
As mentioned, I could pretty much put any G/FORE shoe on this list, and they would fit. But their newest shoe, the MG4+ 02 G/Lock, is their most comfortable spiked model to date.
If you like your shoes to feel as good as they look and you’re into G/FORE’s bolder styling, these are worth a hard look.
Really, any of the G/FORE shoes could be considered for a "most comfortable" list. And this G/Lock model adds exceptional grip and stability to that plush fit.
Comfort Meets Versatility: Ecco S-Three
If the Biom C4 is Ecco’s “cloud walk” shoe and the H4 is its “tank,” the S-Three sits comfortably in between. You still get premium leather construction, out-of-the-box comfort, and dependable spikeless traction — just for a slightly more subdued style and a touch less plushness than the C4.
They’re stable, durable, and plenty comfortable for the course, though the toe box may flex a bit oddly for some feet.
Looking for a comfortable pair of Ecco golf shoes that can do a little bit of everything? Definitely consider a pair of the S-Three.
Most Comfortable “Barefoot” Golf Shoe: TRUE Linkswear OG Cush
Most barefoot-style shoes ask you to trade comfort for ground feel. The OG Cush changes that equation.
TRUE kept the zero-drop, wide-toe box design but added a more padded midsole and extra ankle cushioning, making it one of the few minimalist golf shoes you can comfortably walk 18 in without sore feet.
It’s not the most stable or waterproof option, so it shines brightest in dry conditions, but if you love the idea of a versatile, on/off-course shoe, this one’s a standout.
Looking for a barefoot, zero drop golf shoe, that's actually comfortable? The OG Cush is definitely one to consider. Use code "BE15" to save 15% on anything at TRUE.
A Few Final Thoughts:
Even after testing more than 50 pairs of golf shoes, I’m still just one guy with one set of feet.
You might swear by a pair I’ve never tested, or maybe you’ve had a totally different experience with something on this list. Let me know either way in the comments. Please help your fellow readers with more perspective.
But for me, these are the 10 pairs of golf shoes I’ve found to be most comfortable, which is why it’s not surprising that I think many of the shoes on this list are some of the best overall golf shoes as well.
Comfort goes a long way.
