When it comes to golf destinations, Arizona is one of the most popular there is. It’s one of the few places in the US where you can get perfect weather in the off-season, and with so many courses (both public and private) available, there’s no shortage of options for places to play. But what are the best golf courses in Arizona? You might be inclined to think it’s a PGA venue like TPC Scottsdale – as that’s arguably the most visible course. But based on all of the rankings from major publications? Not the case. Let’s take a look. Best…

We originally played Forest Dunes in October 2013. This review was updated in May 2022 for accuracy. Throughout the course of my Golf Road Trip there was one place that people in both Michigan and Wisconsin would ask me about. “Have you been to Forest Dunes yet?” “Is Forest Dunes on your list to play?” For a course that I was thinking was relatively obscure, everyone seemed to know about it, and more importantly, they all seemed to have nothing but amazing things to say about the course. Needless to say, I’m glad that we added it to the list.…

This post was originally published in July of 2014 in the early days of Breaking Eighty. It was updated in May of 2022 for accuracy. I still consider this one of the best golf days I’ve had, and I absolutely love Hudson National Golf Club. It has a prominent spot on my personal top 100 golf courses list, and I look forward to the day I get to return and experience the course and club again. Their members are very lucky to have such a special facility. — Last week I headed out for my second big golf trip of…

This FootJoy Flex review was originally published in May 2019. It was updated in April 2022 to reflect new pricing and comparisons to other current models. Simply put, Footjoy has one of the best reputations in golf. Their shoes are known for being comfortable, having fantastic performance, and being super durable, so if you buy a pair, you know you’ll get plenty of use out of it. Yet surprisingly, in 7 years of doing golf reviews, I’ve never worn a pair of Footjoy shoes. Well, recently this changed when I was introduced to the FootJoy Flex. Part sneaker, part golf…

I’ll be totally honest… When I woke up to play the Bahia Course at Punta Mita, I was having a bit of a rough morning. Between a Mexican spirits tasting at the Four Seasons, a crying baby during the night, and the added twist of Mexico’s daylight savings time hitting – I was not at 100% when I rolled out of bed around 6:45 to make my 7:50 tee time at the Bahia Course. In part, because I was convinced they must have had my tee time wrong and didn’t account for daylight savings. It was pitch black. But after…

It’s been a few years since I’ve reviewed a Voice Caddie product, but I keep hearing rumblings that a lot of their newest stuff is really good. I had a very good experience with the Swing Caddie SC200 Launch Monitor, so when I was able to get my hands on the new Voice Caddie T9 golf watch, I was excited to test it out. When I think of a GPS golf watch my head typically runs straight to Garmin. Sure there are some good products from Bushnell, and even TecTecTec – but Garmin is kind of the king of GPS…

When you think of golf in Mexico, there’s a good chance the Puerto Vallarta area is not the first place that comes to mind. Typically it’s Cabo golf courses like Diamante or Quivira that most people think of. A big reason for this is because of the density of good golf courses within such a small area. But don’t be fooled, there’s fantastic golf outside of Cabo too. In fact, hiding about 45 minutes north of the PVR airport are 36 wonderful golf holes in the Punta Mita Community. And if you decide to make the trek down to visit, not only…

Over the last five years, we’ve seen a lot of small upstart golf companies start taking on the industry stalwarts. In just about every segment of the market, we’ve seen people come along and try and make high-quality products, at reasonable prices, that are honestly just more interesting than what you get from the big boys. Red Rooster is one of the latest examples of this. Historically, there hasn’t been anything that interesting about golf gloves. Rarely did anything jump out at you as innovative, or truly different when you compare a glove from Titelist, to Taylormade, Nike, or any number…

I’ve been to a lot of golf resorts over the last decade. None of them were like the Four Seasons Punta Mita, located about 45 minutes outside of Puerto Vallarta. I first heard about this resort about five years ago when a group of entrepreneurial friends were doing a retreat there. All it took was one look at the website to become completely enamored. The location, the luxury, the golf – it’s seemingly a place that has it all. And ever since then, I’d been wanting to visit. I got close a couple years ago, and then well, we all…

I’ve never given my socks much thought. I’ve always worn whatever was cheap and clean, and that’s about as far as I’ve gone with it. The idea of spending $20+ for one pair of socks seems preposterous to me. Until I put on a pair of Kentwood socks. To date I’ve now worn three different styles of them. The first was the Men’s Classic Low ($21.95). Honestly, I didn’t think there would be much difference in these and the no show nike socks that I can get for a few bucks a pair. Boy was I wrong. These are so comfortable, and…
