It’s not much of a stretch to say that Ecco makes some of the most comfortable golf shoes on the market. And in the case of the Ecco Biom C4, I think it’s the most comfortable shoe on the market. But as Ecco has continued to expand their golf product line, differentiating between some models can be a little tricky. When you look at the Biom C4, Biom H4, and S-Three – they all kinda look similar. So what’s the difference and which one should you buy? Are the newest entry to the Ecco golf lineup, the S-Three, worthy of consideration? Especially at…

On paper Old Macdonald sounds like the perfect course. I mean almost literally. Look at it on paper… It’s an homage to C.B. Macdonald complete with 18 template holes. All the greats are there: redan, biarritz, cape, short – and so on… It was created at what is arguably the greatest all around pure golf resort on the planet, Bandon Dunes. And it was designed by Tom Doak, one of the most celebrated modern architects in the game. But after 3 rounds at Old Macdonald over 5 years, why haven’t I enjoyed it? For me personally, something got lost in translation about…

I’m gonna be honest with you, it’s been a while since I’ve found a pair of running or training shoes that I’ve really loved. I’ve had a handful of pairs that have been fine when jogging or in the gym, but none of those recently have actually gotten me excited. To take it a step further, I haven’t had a pair that I’ve wanted to wear casually. So many of the latest running shoes have kind of felt like “dad shoes” or just haven’t fit my particular style. When I heard that Payntr golf was coming out with a pair…

Over the years, I haven’t exactly been easy on Shot Scope products. My experience with them has been a mixed bag, but its been clear over the past year or so that they’re really putting a lot of effort into the brand and their products. For instance, while the Pro L2 rangefinder still has its issues, it is much better than the previous Pro L1. And the X5 watch and sensors are definitely a big leap ahead over the previous generation H4 sensors which still require you to tap between shots. But new for this year is the Shot Scope Pro…

Updated March 2024 to give long term review feedback. It’s always exciting when I pick up a new pair of Ecco golf shoes, because I know they’ll be with me for a long time. 6 years ago I got my first pair of Eccos – the Biom Hybrid 2s. They’ve seen well over 100 rounds, and I still wear them from time to time. 5 years ago it was the Ecco Cage Pro. 4 years ago, with the Biom Hybrid 3, I proclaimed it was the best golf shoe I’d ever owned. I still play 25% of my rounds in…

2023 was a good golf year, to put it mildly. For years, I’d done a pretty good job of playing at a bunch of new courses each year as I grew Breaking Eighty and my golf travel IQ. Then COVID hit. I didn’t get on an airplane for 21 months. During that time I also had my first kid, which as you might guess, doesn’t lend itself well to travel. Well, in 2023 I made up for lost time. It started with 4 days at Bandon Dunes in January. In February, I spent the month in Australia with my family…

When its comes to luxury resort destinations Orlando, Florida isn’t necessarily the top of the list. When you think about Orlando, your first thought is more likely visions of theme parks, themed hotels, and general all-around chaos. While much of Orlando is that way, conveniently located to everything near the South end of the city is a bit of an oasis: Grande Lakes. During this year’s PGA Show, I was looking for a place to stay that was a little bit “comfier” than the typical hotels on International Drive near the Orange County Convention Center. I stumbled across Grande Lakes…

The review below is for the Hackmotion 2 device. Hackmotion has recently released the updated 4.0 devicer, and has made significantly improvements to the app and user experience since this review was published in 2024. I’ll update it soon to reflect the current status of Hackmotion. But the video above is a review of the latest 4.0 device, so if you’re in the market, definitely give that video a watch. There are countless golf training products out there that promise to fix your golf swing. Whether it’s old-school devices like the Orange Whip, or new tech products like the deWiz or Blast…

Pound for pound it’s not hard to make the argument that New York is the best state in the country for golf. More than that, you could make the argument that the region within two hours of New York City is the best spot on the planet for world-class golf. There are simply so many phenomenal courses to choose from. There’s just one problem, while it’s a Mecca for golf, it’s more accurately a mecca for private golf. Of our combined list of the top 30 golf courses in New York? Just 1 is public (but it’s a really good one).…
