After a couple years without any major updates to their signature SL2 golf bag, over the last few months we’ve seen two major releases from Stitch.
The first is the modular SL2 MIY golf bag, which did a pretty major redesign of their iconic SL2 and introduced the ability to switch out components to provide different colors and functionality.
A few months after that, Stitch released the SL2 Air Walker – the bag we’re talking about today.
It uses the same design language of the new MIY bag, doesn’t have the modular component, but uses lighter materials than any other full-size Stitch golf bag.
The result is a lightweight golf bag that is not only functional, it’s also the cheapest bag in Stitch Golf’s product range – coming in at $298.
But are you having to sacrifice quality to hit that lower price point? Is it worth spending a bit more to get the MIY bag, or even the original SL2?
We’re going to cover all of that in this Stitch SL2 Air Walker golf bag review.
First Impressions of the Stitch Golf Air Walker Bag
As I took my Air Walker out of the box, my first thought was “this looks familiar.”
I’d just recently reviewed the MIY bag when I got the Air Walker, and the design is essentially the same.
However, instead of the removable lower saddle which has all of the bag’s storage options, it’s integrated like a traditional bag would be.
The other major difference is that instead of the synthetic leather of both the SL2 and MIY iterations, this bag is made from a high-quality nylon which is how they keep both weight and cost down.
As with most Stitch bags, I think this one looks great. I really like the navy colorway of my bag, and the black trim blends seamlessly with the blue color and the bag’s design as a whole.
Stitch Airwalker Features and Build Quality
This review is going to be similar in terms of function and performance to what I said about the Stitch MIY, as like I said, the design and features are very similar.
If you’d like to see my review of that bag, you can read it here or watch this video:
The major complaint I always had with the original SL2 is that it lacked storage space.
With the Air Walker, they’re touting 50% more storage space, despite doing away with the larger garment pocket.
I was surprised as these two things felt a little antithetical to each other.
But after multiple rounds with these bags, I’ve been pleased at just how much storage space they have. The mirrored lower pockets are big enough to fit pretty much whatever you need in them.
The large magnetic ball pouch on the front has space for more balls than you’d ever need. The valuables pouch is also built into this part of the bag, which I don’t personally love. Having my watch in the more typical location near the top of the bag feels a little bit safer to me – but honestly, I think it just needs some getting used to.
While this bag doesn’t have carbon fiber stands like a handful of other luxury bags (Vessel Player IV), the plastic stand works great and feel very secure when expanded.
The nylon material doesn’t feel as expensive as other synthetic leather bags, but it is a very high-quality nylon and the build quality here feels great.
I think a lot of people will gladly trade out the leather material to have a bag with the same build quality, but is lighter and cheaper than its siblings.
The plastic carry handle at the top of the bag works, but I would have liked to see it a bit thicker. I have zero concerns about it ever breaking or anything like that, but it just feels a little bit thin when picking the bag up.
This SL2 Air Walker is the same layout as the SL2 MIY, but uses lighter materials and comes in at nearly $100 less, making it the perfect Stitch bag for golfers on a bit more of a budget.
Stitch Golf SL2 Air Walker Performance
This bag is a joy to carry around the course. The lightweight nature of it is the obvious reason for this, but the strap system is also great as well.
They’re comfortable, easy to adjust, and are made of a high-quality mesh.
Despite having more storage than the previous SL2, this is still definitely a bag for the walking golfer at heart. So you’re not likely going to want to load it up with a six-pack of beers, box of balls, full rain gear and so on.
For me, it’s worked great on both a push cart as well as a traditional cart, despite not having a cart pass-through.
In my Club Glove travel bag, I was surprised how much smaller this is than the Vessel bags I often take with me. You might not notice it as much looking side by side, but Vessel bags can often be a challenge to fit in my smaller travel bag. The SL2 Air Walker however, fit great, even with 3 pairs of shoes competing for space.
Final Thoughts on the Stitch SL2 Air Walker
Overall this is a great addition to the Stitch Golf lineup. It’s functional, great to carry, and evolves the aesthetics of the bag while still being decidedly Stitch.
The optional personalized ingot is still an option here which is a nice touch, as well.
I think the big competitors for this bag are going to be their own SL2 MIY bag, since the layout is so similar – as well as upcoming Rover series bags from Jones.
But if you’re a fan of Stitch products, and are looking to save a few bucks and backaches, I’m really impressed with what SL2 Air Walker brings to the table.

The lightest (and cheapest) full size bag ever from Stitch is definitely one to consider.
Stitch isn't necessarily re-inventing the wheel with this bag, but they are filling a hole in their product line that I think golfers are going to respond really well to. If you're looking for a lightweight, durable, nylon golf bag under $300 - this is one of the best options out there.
The Good
- Lightest bag Sitch has ever made
- Both the nylon material and overall build quality are first rate
- Added storage space is a huge upgrade compared to original SL2
The Bad
- The plastic carrying handle isn't as robust as I'd like
- Depsite the added space, I do miss the large garment pocket and more traditional location of valuables pouch
