Sqairz Golf Shoe Review: Do they actually add distance to your drives?

If stability is your primary goal, then look no further than Sqairz.

I’m going to be totally honest with you here.

When I showed up at the course for the first time wearing my new pair of Sqairz Speed golf shoe, there were a couple laughs at my expense.

Not because the shoes look bad, but more because their branding can be….a little over the top at times.

It didn’t help that I was wearing a pair of highly branded Sqairz socks to go along with them…

But honestly, it can be difficult for direct-to-consumer shoes to grab a foothold in the market these days.

Consumers are more skeptical than ever. So when a golf shoe advertises on their website that shoes alone have been proven to “add an average of 8+ yards to your drives” it’s undoubtedly going to lead to some skeptics.

But any skepticism I had, I put aside. I really wanted to see if Sqairz lived up to the marketing hype. I wanted to see if they could really give the incumbent golf brands a run for their money, and do something different with their shoes.

    Squairz Speed Golf Shoes

    How did they perform?

    Read on to find out.

First Impressions of Sqairz Golf Shoes

Out of the box, my pair of grey and black Sqairz Speed golf shoes actually look pretty solid.

You can tell they’re well built, sturdy, and waterproof – which are all things you like to see in a tour-level shoe.

Are they going to have the cool factor of say a new pair of True Linkswear or special Nikes?

    No.

Are they going to be as versatile and fashion-forward as a new pair of Eccos?

    Probably not.

But I find them to look just as good as many traditional tour shoes from the likes of Footjoy, Callaway, and others.

They do go a little heavy on the branding, with no less than 5 “Sqairz” logos on the outside of the shoe.

I probably could have done without the one at the front of the toe box, but that’s just me.

There is some plastic texture on the laces, which I found did a good job of helping the shoes stay tied. The soles are clearly built for support and stability, and feel very durable.

Overall, my initial impressions are that the Sqairz Speed is a decent-looking Tour shoe, that makes some big promises – and I was excited to find out if they lived up to them.

    Sqairz Speed Golf Shoe Performance

For the past couple of years, nearly all of my golf has been played in more casual spikeless golf shoes.

So it took a minute to adjust to the sturdier nature of the more traditional tour shoe that Sqairz makes.

At first, they’re a bit stiff and will take you a round or two to properly break them in, when compared to say the Ecco C4 or True OG Feel which for me were both ready to rock out of the box.

But it only took a hole or two to really appreciate the increased stability the Sqairz gave me. You especially notice this difference when compared to a shoe like the OG Feel or Nike Roshe G – which are very comfortable, but definitely lacking in the stability department.

The Sqairz shoes really help you stay planted and feel completely confident in making your golf swing.

Did Sqairz technology actually add 8+ yards to my drives? I don’t know about that. But I will say that they gave me the confidence to make a full swing without worrying about slipping – and that confidence certainly can lead to some added distance.

Our morning round started out with some dew on the ground, and I didn’t have to worry about that for a second – which is usually not the case with the spikeless shoes I’ve been wearing this past year.

Final Thoughts on Sqairz Speed Golf Shoes

Honestly, if stability is your number one concern in a golf shoe – then look no further. These will help you feel planted, confident, and comfortable (once you’ve had a round or two to break them in).

I can’t say they’re as groundbreaking as some of their marketing may suggest, but they certainly could be depending on what your needs in a golf shoe are.

This past year they’ve really rounded out their product offerings to serve a wide variety of golfers, as well as have some unique styles as well.

And if you’re not into the Sqairz brand but want something equally as stable? I’d consider the excellent Adidas Tour 360 golf shoes.

Sqairz may not be the shoes that will get the Hypegolf crowd excited, but for the average golfer that needs a reliable, comfortable shoe that will allow you to perform your best? The Sqairz Speed shoes are a fantastic option.

    7.8 Consider them!

While they may not win on looks or marketing, when it comes to stability and traction these shoes are it. If you want to be able to swing out of your shoes while staying firmly planted, definitely consider the Sqairz Speed.
