Let’s get this out of the way: If you’re choosing between the FlightScope Mevo+ and the SkyTrak+, you literally cannot make a bad decision. There are no wrong choices when considering the two products that are definitely among the best golf launch monitors in the $2-3k price range. But just because there’s no wrong choice, doesn’t mean there isn’t a best choice. And that’s where things get personal. Because for as awesome as these two products are — and they are — one of them is at least fractionally better than the other for you personally. So, how do you…

I get asked all the time what my favorite cheap rangefinder is. Cheap is a relative term. In the golf rangefinder world, I consider $200 cheap. And there are a number of products I recommend around that price, like the TecTecTec KLYR and Callaway 300 Pro. But generally speaking, once you get much cheaper than that? Quality goes down with it. Usually to the point where I just can’t in food faith recommend the product. And this is what’s so interesting about the Shot Scope Pro L2 rangefinder. It’s the first rangefinder under $150 that I can give a recommendation for. To…
These days there are countless ways to get distances on a golf course. You can use a rangefinder… You can use a golf watch… You can use an app. You can use an app in tandem with sensors… And you can use a good old-fashioned, standalone golf GPS. And that is what we’re talking about today with our review of the Garmin Approach G12 GPS device. There are a handful of brands out there that have built a strong reputation over decades of product creation, that you just kind of know something is going to be good when you buy…
I’ve been a fan of Ecco golf shoes for years now. I’ve got more rounds in the last 5 years in Eccos than any other brand, and it’s not even close. But they aren’t cheap. In fact, there are very few models with a retail price under $200, which makes them a little out of reach for a lot of people. There’s also the fact that their bread and butter are spikeless shoes. So if you wanted spiked Eccos, you’d have to go for the Biom G5, which at a retail price of $270 is a tough pill to swallow.…
I never thought I’d be that guy. You know the one. The guy who wears golf shoes, off the golf course on a regular basis. There’s been a huge rise in the popularity of spikeless golf shoes over the last decade. And during the first 5-7 years of this, wearing those shoes off the golf course would elicit about the same response as you’d get for having iron covers on your clubs. You simply didn’t do it, lest you risk getting laughed at mercilessly. However, over the last few years, we’ve seen a rise in the “golf cross trainer.” Shoes that could both perform on the…
First I have to make a confession, this review may be slightly biased. You see, I’ve been going to Sunriver, Oregon for as long as I can remember. We used to have a house there growing up, so it has a special place in my heart. This past weekend I got the opportunity to play the newest course in the Sunriver arsenal for the first time: Caldera Links. Caldera Springs is a separate sub-division across the way from Sunriver that is more exclusive and more pricey. It’s also home to the par 3 Caldera Links and Golf Park that I…
Updated October 2023 to reflect updated pricing and an updated on-course review. I originally wrote this Noodle golf balls review in July of 2018, about 5 years ago. After 5 years, I found myself curious: are Noodle golf balls still worth buying? They’re among the cheapest golf balls on the market, so obviously they’re not going to compare to say, Pro V1s. But for the a beginner to high handicap, do they still represent a good value and a ball worth picking up? Good news, yes, years later, I’m still impressed with the trust ol’ Noodle. Obviously, a ball at…
Updated in October 2023 to make comparisons to the newer Approach S70 and Epix Gen 2. We’re not breaking any news when we say the Garmin Approach S62 is a killer piece of golf equipment. It’s been out a couple of years now, and in the past it’s topped pretty much every best-of list, including our own best golf watches list. But (there’s always a but, right?). As of May 2023, Garmin released the brand new Approach S70 – their new flagship golf watch. It comes in at $200 more than the S62, but it also brings a whole lot more to…
This review was originally published in August 2020. Wilson has since refreshed the styling on the Launch Pad irons, but overall performance is the same. This has been updated as of October 2023 to address the styling changes as well as keep pricing up to date. These days most of the golfers I play with on a regular basis are all pretty good sticks. However, two people I’m very close to are still definitely in the realms of beginners golf: my dad and my brother-in-law. So any time I’m looking at equipment geared towards newer golfers, they are the two…
Despite the fact this is a golf blog, I’ve accidentally become somewhat of an expert in sleep heating and cooling systems. About 3 years ago I picked up a Sleep.Me Ooler. It was far from perfect, but definitely helped lead to more comfortable and more restful sleeps. Fast forward to about 4 months ago when I had the chance to upgrade to an Eight Sleep Pod 3 Cover. It blows the Ooler out of the water. It isn’t even close in terms of features, functionality, and most importantly its ability to warm and cool. But there’s a third major competitor…
