Every year around this time, some brands start acting like summer’s basically over. Back-to-school ads show up in July, retailers start pushing fall gear, and it’s like everyone’s in a rush to close the book on the season.
Golf Galaxy’s doing the opposite this year, and I’m into it.
They just kicked off a campaign called “Summer Is Still in Play,” and the whole idea is simple: you’ve still got a ton of good golf left in you. It runs from July 19th through Labor Day (September 7th), and there’s a handful of promotions and in-store stuff worth knowing about, whether you’re due for new clubs, want to squeeze in a fitting, or just want an excuse to hang out at your local store on a Friday afternoon.
Here’s everything that’s going on, and where I’d actually spend my time and money if I were you.
The Trade-In Bonus Is the Headline Deal
If you’ve got old clubs sitting in the garage, this is the one to pay attention to. Right now, ScoreCard members get a 50% bonus on the trade-in value of any clubs they trade in, as long as you spend $150 or more in-store.
I’ve said it before, but trading in clubs at Golf Galaxy is one of the most underrated ways to fund an upgrade. Most golfers have at least one club, if not a full bag, that hasn’t seen daylight in years. Instead of letting it collect dust, roll it into credit toward something you’ll actually use.
A few notes on how it works:
- The bonus is calculated off their trade-in value guide, so what you get depends on the club
- You need a qualifying in-store purchase of $150+
- It’s available at participating stores while supplies last, so don’t wait until Labor Day weekend to do this
- You’ll need to be a ScoreCard member, but signing up (or signing in if you’re already one) takes about a minute

Summer Fridays Are Worth Building a Trip Around
This is the part of the campaign I like most, mostly because it’s not just a discount; it’s an actual reason to go to the store. Golf Galaxy is running “Summer Fridays” through the campaign window, and depending on your location, you’ll find:
- A $1,000 closest-to-the-pin contest — a skills-based contest, so if you can actually hit a wedge shot, there’s real money on the table
- Free simulator time from 2 PM until close (subject to availability) — great way to dial in a few clubs or just hit balls without the heat
- Mystery deals — surprise in-store discounts that change day to day
- Free QuickFit club comparisons with their Trusted Advisors, so you can compare what’s actually working for your swing before you buy anything
If you’ve never done a QuickFit, I’d start there. It’s low-pressure, doesn’t cost anything, and gives you real data instead of just going off what looks cool on the rack.
I did something similar here when I got fit for my Mizuno irons years ago, and I got fit for the exact same clubs, with the exact same adjustments as I did with a full in-depth fitting.

New Player Performance Fittings
Golf Galaxy also rolled out new Player Performance Fittings alongside this campaign, with three different fitting tiers depending on how deep you want to go. The pitch is expert guidance plus real data, and honestly, that’s been my experience every time I’ve gotten fit there. I’ve been in the same set of Mizuno irons for over five years now, and Golf Galaxy is where I got fit for them. The process held up just as well as anything I’ve done at more boutique fitters.
If you’ve been playing off-the-rack clubs, or it’s been a few years since your last fitting, this is a good excuse to go get dialed in before fall rolls around.
ScoreCard+ Is Worth a Look If You Get Services Done Often
They also launched ScoreCard+, which gets you 20% off services every day plus one complimentary service per year. Terms apply, but if you’re someone who regrips clubs, gets regular fittings, or uses their service counter often, this one pays for itself fast.

Scorecard is Golf Galaxy's rewards platform. Earn one point for every dollar spent. 300 points is equal to $10 in credit. Get even more benefits with Scorecard+ as well.
Where I’d Actually Spend Money Right Now
All the campaign stuff aside, here are the three places I regularly send people at Golf Galaxy, campaign or no campaign:
Their deals page. This is the one I check most often myself. Golf Galaxy runs deep discounts across brands pretty regularly, and it’s not always the same stuff on sale, so it’s worth bookmarking and checking back on.

I check this page every week. Golf Galaxy always has some killer deals and closeout sales going on. This is the list of the best stuff currently on sale.
Golf clubs. Between the trade-in bonus, the fittings, and just the sheer selection, this is still my top recommendation for where to buy clubs. You get pro-shop level knowledge with superstore selection and pricing, which is a combination that’s hard to find anywhere else.

Maxfli golf balls. This one flies under the radar, but Maxfli is Golf Galaxy’s in-house ball brand, and the value is legit. If you’ve never tried them, the Maxfli Tour is a solid alternative to the premium tour balls at a fraction of the price.

These balls absolutely hit the sweet spot when it comes to the price-performance ratio. As long as your ego doesn't require to play a ProV1, your wallet, and your scorecard will thank you.
Bottom line: if you’ve been putting off new clubs, a fitting, or just want a good reason to get to the course more this summer, this is a good window to do it in. The campaign runs through Labor Day, September 7th, so there’s still plenty of time, but the trade-in bonus is while supplies last, so I wouldn’t sit on it too long.
