The New Vessel Lux Cart 2.0 is Here. Spoiler Alert: It’s Awesome.

The New Vessel Lux Cart 2.0 Bags are the Gold-Standard of Cart Bags

If there’s one brand I’m never worried about when it comes to a new bag, it’s Vessel. I know anything I get from them is always going to be extremely high quality.

For one, they use best-in-class materials.

But more importantly, the layouts of their bags don’t change a ton from one bag to the other: and that’s a good thing.

Everything is always right where I want it to be, and the new Lux Cart 2.0 and Lux Cart 2.0 Pro don’t change this. If you’re familiar with any of their stand bags, specifically the Player V series, their new cart bag just feels like a bigger version of those.

But at $469 and $519, respectively, is it worth investing in these luxury golf cart bags?

    Let’s find out.

First Impressions of the Vessel Lux Cart 2.0

Right out of the box, these bags are gorgeous. But honestly, that’s not really a surprise anymore. Vessel always nails it in the looks department.

Either bag comes in 4 colorways at the moment: Black, Gray, Navy, or White.

Vessel Lux Cart 2.0 and 2.0 Pro
    These are two good-looking bags.

The Lux Cart 2.0 doesn’t reinvent the wheel compared to the previous version, but that’s not a bad thing. Sometimes you just don’t mess with a good thing.

The all-black look? I’m a huge fan. It’s sleek, classy, and just feels right on the back of a cart. And then there are the little touches like the velour material on the strap and club dividers, for example.

This is one feature that always jumps out as feeling luxury to me. When it was missing on the standard Player IV series bags, I missed it. For me, it was worth upgrading to the Pro just for that. Fortunately, that was changed for the Player V bags, and this continues here – so I’m happy to see either of these bags has that treatment.

Seeing that you can get it with either a 7-way or 15-way top, is also great.

The 7-way top on the standard model is my preference. I also like how they kept these little side handles on each side of the bag. Even on a cart bag, I’ve found them handy.
    The 14-way top.

Personally, I’m sticking with the 7-way. I’ve tried the 14/15-way setups before (I tested it with the Player V Pro Carbon Edition), and it drove me nuts. I’m just not disciplined enough to put every single club back in the exact same slot every time. If you’re Type A, you’ll love it. I’m not.

That’s also why I don’t personally use Vessel’s club organizer.

What’s Different Between The Lux Pro 2.0 and 2.0 Pro?

Admittedly, when I first looked at these bags side by side, my thought was: “Who would actually need the Pro? The standard bag feels basically the same.”

And honestly, in some ways that’s true. But then I started looking closer, and you began to realize, oh no, the Pro really does have a lot of extra stuff packed into what feels like the same bag.

A good look at all of the storage optionds on the Pro model.

While they both have a cart strap pass-through, cooler compartment, dual water bottle sleeves, a magnetic rangefinder pocket, etc., there are some significant differences:

    • Weight: The Pro is about a pound heavier (7.9 lbs vs. 8.9 lbs).
    • Storage: The standard has 21 pockets; the Pro has 30. Yes, 30.
    • Magnetic Features: The standard has 2 magnetic pockets; the Pro doubles it with 4.
    • Extra Compartments: The Pro adds an extra garment pocket and a separate zipper compartment in the magnetic pod.
Notice the magnetic valuables pocket here on the Pro. As well as the extra zipper/storage on the left of this photo, which is behind the magnetic pouch on the front of the bag. Compare to the photo below of the standard bag.
No magnetic valuables pouch. And no secondary storage in front storage compartment.

Do you need 30 pockets? Probably not. But hey, if you’re the kind of golfer who likes to carry rain gear, three pairs of shoes, and a backup for your backup rangefinder, this thing will happily oblige.

How Do the Vessel Lux Cart 2.0 Bags Perform on the Course?

Cart bags are great because there’s less that can “go wrong” compared to stand bags. You’re not stressing about weight or how durable the legs are. It’s mostly: does it look good, hold all my stuff, and does it stay strapped onto the cart without sliding around?

On all three fronts, both of these bags deliver. They sit securely on a cart, the forward-facing pockets are easy to get into while you’re riding, and they just feel solid. Vessel also added a few thoughtful touches, like a discreet AirTag pocket and a dedicated spot for your wedding ring – which, depending on your golf habits, might either be genius or a little too convenient.

The real difference is in how much you want to bring with you. The Pro is basically for golfers who want a “place for everything and everything in its place.” The standard Cart is streamlined luxury — still plenty of room, but not over the top.

Major Differences Between the New Model and the Old Model

    Vessel Lux XV 2.0 Bag
A look at the previous generation Vessel Lux Cart bag. I’ve noticed fit and finish to be slightly elevated on the newer models.

Compared to the previous Lux Cart bag, this feels more like an evolution than a dramatic redesign. Vessel polished up the details and added some convenience features. Key differences include:

    • New Premium Touchpoints: Smooth-grain leather accents and velour-lined pockets.
    • New Storage Options: Dedicated wedding band pocket, discreet AirTag® compartment.
    • More Magnetic Access: Expanded magnetic pockets compared to the older version.
    • Enhanced Weather Protection: Better protection from the elements built in.
    • Refined Styling: Small design tweaks for a sleeker, more modern look.

The older version already set a pretty high bar, so this update is less about fixing problems and more about fine-tuning.

Who Should Buy Each of These Bags?

If you’re torn between the two models, here’s a quick breakdown:

The Vessel Lux Cart 2.0 is Best For Golfers Who:

    • Want a premium-looking and feeling golf bag, but don’t need absolute maximum storage space
    • Want to keep your gear fairly minimal (by cart bag standards) and want something lighter, cleaner, and easier to manage
    • Want to save a little bit of money

The Vessel Lux Cart 2.0 Pro is Best for Golfers Who:

    • Want to bring everything they own onto the golf course with them
    • You like a specific spot for every item – rain gear, snacks, training aids, launch monitor, accessories, your kitchen sink etc.
    • You’re someone who always wants to have the “best” version of everything you buy.
    • Budget isn’t a concern

    Other Cart Bags Worth Considering

If you like the idea of a high-end cart bag but want to explore other options, I’d look at:

    • Sun Mountain Matchplay Cart: Another luxury cart bag, but with a slightly different design language. Sun Mountain tends to lean a little more toward function-first, but the Matchplay still has a refined look and excellent storage.
    • Sunday Golf Big Rig: On the opposite end of the spectrum, this one is much cheaper, but still a great cart bag if you don’t need luxury touches. Lighter, straightforward, and easy on the wallet.

All things being equal, I’d personally go with the Vessel Lux Cart 2.0 Pro with a 7-way top.

But the reason I’d go with the Pro isn’t necessarily about max storage.

The surprising reason I preferred it between the two, is basically because in most cases your storage gets doubled up. A garment pouch on both sides of the bag, a valuables pocket on both sides etc.

I just found it really nice to be able to access these pockets from either side of the bag, depending on whether I was driving or not.

    Vessel Pro Cart Bag
Having all of those pockets mirrored on both sides of the bag, is actually really convenient.

It isn’t a huge factor, and most people won’t completely alter their bag organization because of it, but I’ve enjoyed having the option.

So even if I don’t use all that space, having that extra flexibility is nice.

Is it an extra $50 nice? Maybe, maybe not. But in most cases, I imagine if you’re ok spending $469 on a bag, you’re probably someone who is also ok spending $519 on a bag…

Final Thoughts on the New Vessel Cart Bags

If you’re in the market for a luxury cart bag and don’t mind spending for it, Vessel is still the gold standard. At $469 for the Cart and $519 for the Pro, these aren’t impulse buys. But once you’ve had one, it’s hard to go back to anything else.

If you want something clean, refined, and practical, the Lux Cart 2.0 is perfect. If you’re the golfer who brings enough gear for an entire foursome and loves having every pocket labeled in your head, go with the Pro.

Either way, these bags make your setup look good — and let’s be honest, that’s half the battle.

    9.4 Fantastic

If you're looking for a luxury cart bag, and money is no object, this is among the best bags on the market. It looks fantastic, it uses high end materials, and as is typical for Vessel, they absolutely nail the layout and functionality. Highly recommended.

    The Good
    1. Excellent build quality and materials
    2. Looks sleek and high end
    3. Regardless of which version you get, there's enough storage space for everything you need.
    The Bad
    1. I don't personally love the 14 way top
    2. Is there a thing as
    3. It doesn't come cheap
