If You Buy Only One Golf Hoodie, Get the Forrester’s Range Hoodie

When it comes to cool factor AND on course performance - this is the hoodie to get.

If you grew up golfing in the Pacific Northwest during the ’80s or ’90s, there’s a good chance you wore Forrester’s gear at some point.

Then, like so many old-school golf brands, it just kind of vanished.

But here’s the thing: Forrester’s is back. And they’re not messing around.

The brand rights changed hands a couple of times before landing with the same team that brought back the iconic Jones Golf bags. When Chris Bailey, the guy who was instrumental in designing some of the most legendary Jordan gear for Nike, got interested in designing for the brand, well, good things started happening.

They just launched in mid-2025, and one of their flagship pieces is the Range Hoodie.

After spending time in it both on and off the course, I’ve got some thoughts. Let’s get into it.

First Impressions of the Forrester’s Range Hoodie

Right out of the gate, this hoodie looks different.

It’s got that streetwear vibe that works. Not in a trying-too-hard way, but in a “yeah, I know this looks good” kind of way. Short of something from Malbon, this is what all the cool kids in golf are wearing right now. And you can expect Forrester’s to become a darling of Hypebeast pretty quickly.

The most obvious design element? That simple drawstring holder across the chest.

The drawstring holder is such a simple touch, that makes such a big difference.

Jordan popularized this detail, and I have no idea why more golf hoodies haven’t adopted it. It’s genius. It keeps the strings out of the way when you’re swinging, and it’s also just a cool aesthetic touch.

This thing has serious street style appeal. You can wear it to the course, then keep it on for a casual dinner or drinks afterward without looking out of place.

Not only is this one of the trendiest pieces of clothing in golf right now, but it's also one of the most functional as well. This represents a killer value for what you get.

How Does the Range Hoodie Fit?

The fit on the Range Hoodie is fantastic.

    Forresters Range Hoodie

Not too long, not too short. Everything feels very tapered to actually make sure movement during the golf swing is as easy as possible. I’m wearing a large at 6’1″ and 205 pounds, and it fits perfectly.

The material itself has a mild moisture-wicking element, which makes it surprisingly versatile. I’ve been caught in two rainstorms while wearing this, and it didn’t get soaked like most hoodies do. It held up way better than I expected.

The inside is a nice waffle knit fleece that manages to be both breathable and warm at the same time. That’s a tricky balance to strike, and Forrester’s nailed it.

The waffle knit pattern is nice and warm.

One thing I absolutely love? You can pull up the sleeves, and they don’t get stretched out. No matter how much you do it.

The sleeves on this hoodie are great.

While the B.Draddy Andy might be my favorite overall hoodie for both on and off the course (just due to my personal style), that definitely gets stretched out when I pull up the sleeves. Not the case here. The Range Hoodie maintains its shape.

How Well Does It Work to Actually Golf In?

This is where the Range Hoodie really shines.

In fact, I’m giving this the award for Best Hoodie to Actually Golf In.

The fit allows for completely unrestricted movement. The tapered cut through the shoulders and torso means nothing bunches up or pulls during your swing. The drawstring holder keeps everything in place. And the fabric has just enough stretch and breathability that you stay comfortable even when you’re working up a sweat.

That moisture-wicking capability I mentioned earlier? It’s subtle, but it makes a real difference. This isn’t a full-on rain jacket, but it handles light rain and damp conditions better than any other hoodie I tested.

The waffle knit fleece interior provides warmth without being bulky. Perfect for those cool morning rounds when the temperature is in the 50s but you know it’ll warm up by the back nine.

From a pure performance standpoint, this hoodie just works. It’s thoughtfully designed with golf-specific features that actually matter.

Final Thoughts on the Forrester’s Range Hoodie

The Forrester’s Range Hoodie is one of those pieces that exceeded my expectations in every way.

Best part? At $148, it’s not cheap. But the value is fantastic.

You’re getting what I think might be the best-performing golf hoodie on the course. You’re getting a trendy hoodie you can wear off the course without looking like you just walked off the 18th green. And it’s among the cheapest options in my lineup of best hoodies.

(No one ever said this was a budget review blog.)

This is one of those hoodies I think everyone should consider. Frankly, I like it so much more than I expected to.

The combination of thoughtful design details, excellent performance on the course, versatile style off the course, and reasonable pricing makes this an easy recommendation. If you’re only buying one golf hoodie this year, the Range Hoodie should be high on your list.

And don’t even get me started on how good the Forrester’s rain gear is. But that’s a topic for another review.

    9.5 Fantastic.

The relaunch of the Forrester's Brand is a masterclass in how things like this should be done. The Range hoodie is a throwback to an older generation, while still being decidedly modern and forward thinking. And best of all? This is one of the most functional golf layering pieces I've tested.

    The Good
