I wasn’t initially a big G/FORE guy.
I definitely respected what they were doing. The shoes looked awesome.
But I always thought their style might be a little too bold for me or too fashion-forward. It was more of a confidence thing. I wasn’t really sure I could pull it off.
Then I actually started wearing their stuff.
And everything completely changed. The quality of G/FORE’s shoes in particular won me over to the point that I didn’t care whether or not the style fit me personally. And then I even got to the point where I actually really started to appreciate and embrace the style with full confidence.
All that to say that I’ve changed. Not only do I now like G/FORE golf shoes, I actually love them. To the point that even as someone who’s lucky enough to have more than 50 pairs of golf shoes, I find myself reaching for G/FOREs probably more than any other brand.
It’s the quality and performance first and foremost. Spiked, spikeless, comfort, style… whatever you’re looking for, G/FORE makes some phenomenal golf shoes.
But of all their options, these are the five G/FORE golf shoes I personally think are their best. These are the ones that get my highest recommendation.
Let’s get to the list.
Best Looking: G/FORE Gallivanter

I think the Gallivanter is the best-looking golf shoe on the market.
To me, this is that rare shoe that marries traditional and modern styling in a way that actually works. It definitely gives off a traditional vibe, but there’s also just enough edge with details like the skull-and-crossbones sole to keep it from feeling too buttoned-up.
The build quality is completely first-rate. No surprise there as that’s pretty much the G/FORE story in a nutshell. But the Gallivanters take things to another level. The pebbled leather feels high-end, and it actually cleans up very easily.
And these shoes were shockingly comfortable right out of the box.
The grip is phenomenal too. As a spiked shoe, you feel planted and stable in a way that you just don’t get with spikeless golf shoes. And for even more traction, you can go with the Gallivanter G/LOCKs, which include the more traditional removable spikes.
At $225, these shoes aren’t cheap. But I honestly think they look and feel more expensive than they cost. And with code G4BREAKING8010, you can knock 10% off.
If you’re a fashionable golfer, or you want to be, this is the shoe.
My Review: Are the G/FORE Gallivanter’s the Best Looking Shoes in Golf?
I'm not sure there's another shoe out there that says "I know how to play golf" than the Gallivanter. It's quite simply one of the best-looking shoes out there.
Best All-Day Golf Shoe: G/FORE MG4x2

I used to think I’d never be the guy who wore their golf shoes off the golf course on a regular basis.
But the MG4x2 changed that for me.
These are true crossover shoes. You legitimately can wear them on a plane, around town, out to dinner, and of course on the golf course. I’ve worn them in every one of those situations.
These are among the most versatile golf shoes I own. And now having them in my rotation for more than a year, I can say they’re some of my overall most-worn shoes.
Comfort is outstanding. The sole is softer than most running shoes, which makes them incredibly comfortable to walk around in all day.
And like all G/FORE shoes, the MG4x2s have little massaging nubs in the insole. If you’ve never experienced them, they’re like little pressure points that feel like a foot massage with every step you take. I’m telling you, it’s amazing.
On the course, they performed better than I expected from an all-day shoe. The traction is surprisingly good, and I’ve had no issues with slipping even in dewy morning conditions. They’re not going to have the same absolute grip and stability as a spiked option, but that’s not what they’re built for.
What they are built for is versatility. And G/FORE definitely nailed it with that objective. I’ve worn these shoes traveling, golfing, out with friends, and even to a college football game.
I will say that the styling is a bit bold, which again is kind of G/FORE’s thing. There’s a lot going on with the speckled midsole and color blocking. But it’s grown on me to the point where I now genuinely love it.
One quick note: The white mesh of my particular model does get dirty pretty easily. It’s nothing a little shoe cleaner can’t handle, but if you’re hard on your shoes, you might want to consider going with a darker colorway.
I’m not saying these are likely to be your only pair of golf shoes. But if you want a pair that you can do just about anything in, these are it.
My Review: Why the G/FORE MG4x2 is the Ultimate Go-Anywhere Golf Shoe
The G/FORE MG4x2 is an incredibly comfortable shoe that looks just as good off the course as it does on it.
My Personal Favorite Right Now: G/FORE G.112
For the longest time, I ignored the G.112s.
I’d see them and think they looked cool, but I just thought they might be too much style and not enough substance. Maybe just a little too casual to be a serious golf shoe.
That was a mistake.
After now putting a bunch of rounds on these, including three out of four rounds on a trip to Ballyneal, I can say without hesitation that the G.112s are completely legit.
What surprised me most was the breathability. The perforated version I’ve been wearing has venting across the upper that makes a big difference. Walking 36 holes at Ballyneal in 90-degree weather, my feet stayed cool and comfortable the whole time.
They’re also way more comfortable for long walks than I expected. Definitely more flexible and less structured than something like the MG4+. And of course you get G/FORE’s signature nubbed insoles.
Performance-wise, they held up better than I thought they would. Even on uneven lies or rugged terrain, they stayed locked in. I’ve had no issues with support or stability.
And, for the record, I broke 80 for the first time in two years wearing these shoes.
I think the style hits a nice balance too. From one angle, they look clean and minimalist, almost like Stan Smiths. But turn them and you get G/FORE’s distinctive angular sole design and pops of color. They’re kind of subtle and loud at the same time.

If you like the way these look, go buy them. Seriously. They’re fantastic.
At $225, they’re priced the same as the Gallivanters. And with code G4BREAKING8010, you can drop that down closer to $200.
My Review: I Overlooked the G/FORE G.112. That was a BIG Mistake.
For the longest time, I didn't take these golf shoes seriously. Man, am I glad I decided to finally check them out.
Best for Wider Toe Box: G/18
This shoe runs roomier than an option like the MG4+ or Gallivanter. You notice it immediately in the toe box. So if you’ve got wider feet or you just prefer a less snug fit, this is the model to look at.
The G/18 is also one of the most fashion-forward shoes in the G/FORE line. You’ve got the “Play Nice” emblazoned across the toe boxes, the raised G/FORE logo on the heel, and a textured sole that wraps all the way around to the front of the shoe.
Out of the box, the build quality is excellent. Everything about this shoe feels high-end. The materials are premium, and the construction is as good as anything G/FORE makes.
As for performance, these surprised me. The spikeless sole provides better traction than you’d expect. The grip goes a step above what you get with the MG4+, though it’s obviously not quite at the level of a spiked shoe.
Comfort is also excellent. Typical G/FORE. And there’s been no break-in period required at all.
I know the styling’s not going to be for everyone. It’s definitely a bold shoe. But if you’re cool with that and you need a wider fit, this is a fantastic golf shoe.
At $250, these are on the pricier side. But the quality justifies it. And again, code G4BREAKING8010 takes 10% off.
My Review: I Was Kinda Surprised by the G/FORE G18 Shoes.
The G/FORE G/18 is the latest spikeless shoe from G/FORE and is one of our favorite golf shoes to date. They're comfortable, fashion-forward, and perform very well. Highly recommended.
Best for Most People: MG4+ O2
If I had to recommend one G/FORE shoe to most golfers, it’d be the MG4+ O2.
This is the best blend of comfort, performance, and looks in the lineup. It’s a shoe that works for almost everyone.
The original MG4+ was my most worn shoe in 2023. So when G/FORE released this updated O2 version, I was curious if they could actually improve on something I already thought was exceptional.
They did.
The traction in the MG4+ O2 is as close to a spiked shoe as I’ve experienced with a spikeless option. My first round with them was a wet morning with heavy dew everywhere, and I didn’t slip once. The sawtooth sole pattern is incredibly effective.
Comfort is also outstanding. Of course you get those massaging nubs in the insole, and this shoe’s got a triple-density foam bed that makes it feel like you’re walking on pillows.
I also like that there’s a ton of padding around the heel collar. I especially appreciated that after wearing less comfortable shoes right before testing these.
One note about sizing. I wear a 12. And while these fit me true to size, they did feel slightly snug on first wear. After 18 holes, they relaxed and felt perfect. But just calling that out. If you’ve got wider feet, you might want to consider going half a size up.
G/FORE also makes a spiked G/Lock version of this exact shoe if you want maximum traction. But I think that, for most people, the MG4+ O2 spikeless is the sweet spot.
My Review: Why the G/FORE MG4+ 02 is the Best Golf Shoe for Most People
G/FORE does it again with another killer shoe. This time they've created what might be the best-performing spikeless golf shoe. If you want near-spike-level performance but like the comfort and convenience of spikeless, check these out.
Final Thoughts on the Best G/FORE Golf Shoes
Here’s what I’ve come to realize about G/FORE: If you like the way the shoe looks, you’re probably going to love the shoe.
Every model in their lineup has the same attention to detail, the same build quality, and the same commitment to premium materials.
But each one definitely has its own vibe and purpose.
If you want traditional style with modern comfort, I like the Gallivanters.
If you need something you can wear all day, on or off the course, I think the MG4x2 is an easy choice.
If you’re looking for a casual, breathable shoe that still performs, don’t make the mistake I did of sleeping on the G.112.
If you’ve got wider feet or you want a bolder look, consider the G/18.
And if you want what I think is the all-around best performance in a spikeless shoe for most people, it’s the MG4+ O2.
Yeah, these shoes are expensive. That’s the reality of G/FORE. But the quality is there. They’re going to last and they’re going to perform. And with code G4BREAKING8010, you can save 10% on any of them, which makes the value proposition even better.
If you’re on the fence about G/FORE, pick the shoe that speaks to you and give it a shot. I think you’ll be happy with the result.
